Interesting program. Consisted of interviews with people in white communities and then a panel of 3 working class people in the media eye, Margaret Hodge and then Nick Griffin separately.

Seems a lot of the perception of Britain is caused by the media. For example a working class woman in a white former mining community in Derbyshire referred to "they" even when the reporter interviewing pointed out there are no ethic minorities where she lived.

The publican interviewed pointed out that people couldn't get better paid jobs because immigrants would work for less pay.

Shaun Bailey, black working class charity director, pointed out that:
        1. The working class can't do the jobs anymore because they can't afford to live on the wages and are therefore perceived as lazy for not taking them.
        2. The housing issue particularly in London is bad because immigrants are more likely to have large families and so will get the larger accommodation from the council as policies mean housing is means tested. Building one and two bedroom properties is not helping the situation.

Bob Crow, union leader, stated Nu Labour has refused to bring in legislation to stop new immigrants wages being lower.

Jon Gaunt, talk show host, pointed out that Nu Labour prevent discussion of immigration full stop by labeling any talk about the issues being racist. The people who phoned into his talk show made points like they were fed up of going to the GP and being stuck behind 30 people who couldn't speak English.

Nick Griffin was interviewed separately. He stated that the problems are due to immigration and outsourcing. Then he blamed hard drugs and binge drinking in communities on Pakistan and Islam without an explanation why and stated he didn't want mixing of the races like Hindus, Sikhs and West Indians as he didn't want a coffee coloured world.

Jon Gaunt asked why Nick Griffin was brought into every discussion like this as he wasn't working class and made all white people seem like fascists. Plus BNP councillors when elected time and time again are shown to be useless.

Maragaret Hodge was slated by Bob Crow. He pointed out that she only started having tea and biscuits with her constituents once she realised she could lose her seat to the BNP. Also when unions including the RMT went around her constituency to prevent the BNP being elected in the last election they could see her being booed as she hadn't bothered talking to her constituents until then.

She was also taken apart for her quote on the proms.

All 3 panelists did make the point that politicians of whatever party and the London based media don't understand working class people what ever colour they are, liked making fun of them and using them as scape goats.

Didn't watch the program, but having Mr. Griffen in it surely lowers the credibility of the programme down to nearly ziltch. Frankly they could have just used a two year old taped interview with him and it would have been the same word for word.
