Haha - not sure about Warten, but I am a Tester.

Currently working as a Quality Consultant, so maybe as well to get my change of direction embedded before I start contracting again to be honest. Poke and prod PM's and Test Managers, also deploying and working with templates that I have created for the company.

I just wish it was not 57 miles away, but at least they are flexible with the hours which makes it bearable.

Mainly worked in finance type roles - an area which is suffering at present.

Keep yourself in demand. Don't work for 3 months , but get hot skills in that time and you will make up for the 3 months in short time. This is Contractor's rule Number 55. ( I have not released the book yet )

Same place as existing contract - not renewing, contracting is the only way to stay. Not sure why as 56 miles away, but they are allowing me to do 7:30 to 3:30 to avoid the traffic.

As I am still settling into Quality Function work from Testing, I think it is important to settle down for a while rather than change firms every 6 months.

Plan is to do this for 2-3 years, then resign and go contracting again with a better skillset.

Well, that is the plan.......

My last client said that. And then he balked at the temp to perm fees that the agent wanted to charge, so I walked.

I didn't really want to make the move to perm and would have been happier just reducing the rate a bit. But he wanted the "certainty" of a perm. And what happens? Six months later the US office decide that they don't need the poxy office in the UK anyway and make them all redundant.
