    To the OP.

    I have a 32" 720, it's bloody lovely. I wouldn't bother with 1080 if you're getting a small size like 37".

Sky is 1080i (interlaced) which all HD TV's can display, a 720P picture is superior.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Hmm when sky HD was launched they said 1080i only? From a quick google it seems they broadcast sport in 720P as it handles fast moving images better and 1080i, not sure what sky movies is broadcast in?

Well, having read this lot of useful replies and done a bit more surfing I have come to the conclusion that the only possible difference (which I probably can't see) is if I have an HD source.

now it appears the DTT is going to be broadcast in a different format for HD which is not yet fully defined thus there is precisely no possibility of any existing tuner coping with it.

So HD ready rather than full HD it is.

Mrs ASB has given me 38"/96.5 cm of wall space to play with. She won't have an inch more. This gives me the following initial shortlist:-

            LG 37LC55
            Tosh 37C3035
            Samsung LE37R87BDX

The only 60" I could find that fits the space is the Tosh 40XF355D. I quite liked the look of this and would probably get one if I was going full HD.

So any comments on any of the shortlist (I'm trying to find reviews of course). Even if it is only I considered that and thought it was crap.

            Cheers.

Have a look at the Medion 47". Quite good, and cheap. I like it.

I would go for the Samsung, £50 more expensive than the LG according to pricerunner at around £500 for no other reason than am not a fan of LG as have had products of theirs pack up right after the expiry of the guarantee.

                    From the gospel of truth...wikipedia

Medion AG is a German company which sells consumer electronics products. It operates in Europ, the United States, and the Asia-Pacific region. The main products are computers, TVs, refrigerators, toasters, and fitness equipment. The company is becoming popular in Europe but has failed in the North American market. However a recent spate of defective products has caused a major downturn in profits.

Do you happen to know if JL will price match to internet prices ? Cheapest price with a free 5 year thrown in would be great.

Cheapest price I have seen is 440 - but +75 delivery.
