I doubt I would even notice the quality difference between HD/Blu-Ray and DVD anyway, so I'm staying put with current technology for a while yet. As someone else said, when the supermarkets are knocking them out for twenty quid I'll join the HD revolution.

Unless you have a sight or hearing issue that is not true.

Troll - do you mean for the discs?

If so, then yes as at some point, I imagine normal DVD's will no longer be made.

I never buy DVD's at full price - only when reduced or in a sale.
Also, I think they will come down to the price of current DVD's in due course as I don't think consumers will want to pay more for them.

I think I read somewhere that because HD DVD is based on current DVD technology it has much faster access times compared to Bluray, something that is considerable when using them for anything other than watching films.

HD DVD is more versatile but Bluray has more storage, common sense won't prevail, the company that spends more promoting their format will.

            Hmmm... tough choice

Should I pay Sony UK £599 for their top end BDP-S500

or ask the mother in law to bring one back from the states for $509 and get access to cheaper region BR media?

whilst looking up something else completely unrelated I noticed a reference to vivid (porn company) recently releasing a title on HD DVD and Blue Ray

More talk of the demise of HD-DVD as Toshiba pulls the plug (probably)
