Doubt there are any celebrating Christmas over there, it is after all a christian event, not a Muslim one. Isn't it the tale end of EID though ?

Not a good EID may be more appropriate.

I am cynical here but I think USA made a bet on him as they don't want nukes to fall into wrong hands. USA saved his skin more than once with the equipment they gave him, they could have done the same for her but they did not - really it was just a matter of time because she got killed like this.

She was the darling of the West of course.

Edited to say: Having read the websites, I was wrong. Apparently her party was the most popular in Pakistan.

The elections will probably be postponed, international condemnation, a govt & army at uneasy odds with each other the longer they go without elections, Musharraf could stand down and be replaced by Nawaz Sharif eventually, who knows?

Certainly a lot of fence-sitting and refusal to name names about the perpetrators for fear of angering the Islamic militants. Bit of an elephant in the living room there.

Or, as a commentator is currently saying - this could weaken politics in Pakistan, the PPP could be finished, and either Musharraf or Sharif could inherit the supporters.

Or, Musharraf could declare martial law again.

Referring to my earlier post - it was almost certainly the elephant, while everyone else in the room tried not to notice.
