I've set aside some Nicholas Feuillate Millesieme for Christmas Day.

And will top up on my way back through France in the New Year.

Majestic12 would have probably returned dandelion and burdock. Not that there's anything wrong with dandelion and burdock, I hasten to add.

Well it's not my fave but it wasn;t the worst stuff I've ever had... I don't think I have tasted enough to really know properly...

You won't go wrong with the Lindauer then. It's the best the new world has to offer in the sparkling wine stakes.

If you want something a bit more light and easy drinking (the complexity of the Special Select might be a bit much for the sort of drinker you describe), go for the Lindauer Brut NV. This is a bargain £8/bottle and is as fine an example of a light and fruity sparkler as you will get.

Of course, for the very best in non-champagne sparklers you're looking at something like a Nyetimber Premiere Cuvee (English), but this will set you back serious dough for a really good vintage.

A whole crate wasn't enough to tell if you liked it or not?!?!

                You are hard core.

Champagne is overpriced, overrated and, er,

I don't like the stuff but we've been quaffing it for the last two days in the office.

We once mixed 1990 Dom Perignon with Red Bull. A most pleasant concoction.

I can completely vouch for that - not Dom Perignon - that would probably be sacrilege, but cheap and cheerful Veuve Clicquot. Not too much Red Bull or it's too sweet - go 80/20 Champers/RB and it's a lovely start to the evening.
