2007 has been a bad year for us as well. Son was severly ill in January and required an operation. Several deaths in the family. Struggling business.

I sincerly hope your wife regains her full health. I would recommend some time off - nothing's more important than family.

My advice : Carry on working

One more thing TE (and anyone else: like 'previous poster') - try to carry on working if you can (obviously need to take time off to escort your wife to the hospital etc), but having been through difficult times in the past, I find that work gives you some sense of normality (sort of), so I wouldn't stop working and I'll carry on doing whatever I was doing to keep my mind off things. Nothing to do with money, just keeping the routine.

Usually, if the news is bad they come back to you pretty quickly so in these kind of cases "no news is good news".
