Or shoes... a few on here seem quite obsessed with them and cannot stop mentioning them .... it would seem they inferiority complex regarding personal cleanliness. Tragic.

I'm getting repeatedly asking to go along to a client christmas bowling event. Fair enough but it isn't really my idea of fun. If it was an event during the working day I'd go along but I'd don't work for free at night.

They keep going on about how all the food and drink is free like it is some huge deal. I don't expect Mr Jones from the client management team to come out on the pull with me at the weekend so why should I come along with them.

If I was trying to charm them then I suppose I would go but I have a new role lined up for Jan 1st so i'm not really bothered.

Do you guys go along to client work events? Am I just a miserable so and so?

I got asked the question a couple of weeks ago... I just said that as a freelancer, Gordon Blair would prefer I didn't get the same perks as perm staff (unless I paid my own way?).... plus its a bit too soon into my contract for that kind of stuff

I just see it as a marketing exercise, with the client kindly footing the bill. SOme contractors are still deluded enough to think that the best workers get renewals or repeat business... its not the hardest working, its the most liked that get the work.

Sssshhhh ! You still need somebody to actually do the work while you are busy networking. Just because you are retiring you don't have to reveal all the trade secrets.
