Scary thought but if either Pakistan or Iran fired a nuke in anger at India or Israel would they be left to fight their own battles or do you think the US just wouldn't be able to resist? Especially as they do have a bit of a track record with this sort of thing and they must have a procedure in place to deal with this scenario.

a more scarier thought is radical mullahs (al qaeda) in pakistan, dismantling a nuke
and loading the warhead on a commercial airliner and detonating this
over downtown new york or central london, would make 9/11 look like
a walk in the park
