Bit pricier and a bit uglier than Vectras. If I don't find a banger before the weekend I'll go to Fords of Winsford, hundreds to choose from, no haggle pricing.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostGet yourself a low mileage Mondeo.Comment

I reckon that's a matter of opinion and I'm sure a Ford is tougher and better build than a Vauxhall.Originally posted by rootsnall View PostBit pricier and a bit uglier than Vectras. Fords of Winsford has some real dog ends. Ebay is the place to pick up cheap motors. I could get the likes of that ford for £500The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

Much of a muchness. Vectras are tough and low maintenance, one known flaw is the timing belt, I thought it was just mechanic talk until yesterday.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostI reckon that's a matter of opinion and I'm sure a Ford is tougher and better build than a Vauxhall.Comment

They are just better to deal with than your local car dealer, plus loads of choice. Problem with all private sales is the trailing around, the hastle of checking the car is not dodgy and then how to pay for it.Originally posted by Bagpuss View PostFords of Winsford has some real dog ends. For a car around a grand, cash.Originally posted by rootsnall View PostThey are just better to deal with than your local car dealer, plus loads of choice. Problem with all private sales is the trailing around, the hastle of checking the car is not dodgy and then how to pay for it.
It's amazing the deals you can get by showing cash to a desperate private seller or even a dealer.Comment

Just having a little scan at what is on offer within a mile of home. There is still the hastle of checking they actually own the car before handing over the wad or would you go on the log book only for a grands worth.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostFor a car around a grand, cash.

I'd pay another £20 for a check on the car, check the log book against the address the car is sitting at and take if for a long test drive to check for overheating etc.
