I quote from the first paragraph:

Ferrari have developed a new optional four-wheel drive system, dubbed as "insertable 4x4", which is designed to maximise the performance capability of their sports cars under all conditions. This latest project follows on from an 'adaptable' four-wheel drive system that was developed in Maranello last year and clearly demonstrates again that Ferrari are looking very closely at this form of traction.

4wd is mentioned 3 times. I rest my case.

And No, Ferrari is not a sports car manufacturer, it is a racing team which in order to get enough money to race, develop and sell road cars.

        All Wheel Drive = AWD.

How many wheels does it have? (don't count the spare, if it has one.)

Got mine brand new so all the depreciation hit me - £20K over 4 years. If you get a used one you won't take that hit.

You do have to be careful over speed bumps and ramps but I don't think I ever found anywhere I absolutely could not go.

Was pretty reliable, generally bits didn't fall off, when it did need work the factory came to my house (hertfordshire) to pick it up (from leicestershire). The work in question was a chnage to a track day approved sump - so nothing serious.

Doesn't that mean All Wheel Drive - so unless your car has more or less than 4 wheels - that would be 4 wheel drive then

My question is, if a car is quoted as AWD, does that rule it out as being a "sports car", by your definition?

                Yes.

And it is bloody annoying because the new Lamborghinis are 4wd. I guess I have to dream of an old Diablo.

I believe the supercars are being made as 4wd these days in order to let people who are rich in cash but not super good drivers, drive them safely.

wow 20k, my current car is 3 years old and has lost approx 7k, although the list for that was 27k
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Well, Ferrari think it is to improve grip, but what do they know.....

Maybe you should ask Ferrari and while you are there, tell them they are not making sports cars, because they think they do.

You will kow of course, there is a difference between AWD and 4WD.
