If you want to be "Up West" the lanesborough is alright. Only been there for dinner but you can play spot the stars if that's your thing.

Saw Michael J Fox the last time I was there. Along with a couple of Sultans.

That's one of the ones on lastminutes secret rooms available for <£100 a night. Still knowing you paid several times more makes one feel special
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Can't recommend a place but www.laterooms.com is worth a try for a last minute hotel deal.

                  Excellent cocktail/brandy bar

                  ...

Wherever you end up staying, have a martini in the Dukes bar in St James.

I just got 2 rooms at the 4 star Hilton Olympia for £61 each for a Saturday in November via Priceline.

Seems like a pretty good deal as the LastMinute price is £147 for the cheapest room.

I really liked it here Sal, I am not sure about the bar, I was otherwise occupied, but there are loads of bars in Soho.
