Heidelberg Christmas market.
Munich.
Verona.
Lake Garda.
Ravena.
Rimini.
Salzberg.

there is a ruined monastery at the top of saint-émilion that is now a cavé specialising in most excellent méthode champenoise. the place is tucked away from the more tourist sections and not advertised from the street. you can buy the champenoise and take away (like a normal cave) or choose to drink-in and sit in the remains of the cloister. it is a magical place on a lazy day... getting gently drunk (because you have to have another bottle) and competing with each other to get corks higher into the vine covered ruins than all the previous drinkers.Comment

RAF Lyneham. Sounds dumb-ass but every time I've come back from getting shot at, I've always arrived back at Lyneham. Also, CTC RM Lympstone (after the Commando Course, not before).
Alternatively, the Maldives were pretty special. As is First Class on BA (especially when you get upgraded to it from business class!).
From a more active point of view, the summit of Lhotse was, I believe, amazing. Strangely altitude-engendered hypoxia means I've got precisely sod-all memory of being there, although I do have a picture of me sitting there, freezing my arse off, in a blizzard.
