It was either then or when Kuwait was invaded, that none of the cash machines were paying out one Sunday.

No one connected the events at the time, but apparently the banks couldn't work out which cards to block, so temporarily blocked the lot to be on the safe side.

It's funny, until YOUR bank, your Lender, or your Client's bank, etc. buys the farm.

it will get really interesting if NR closes its doors to prevent further withdrawls...

                True story:

I have a 'mate' who was going to buy my flat back in 1999 but I got a better offer so I did what any businessman would do and took it, to this day he is always going on about the time when I 'gazumped' him. On Tuesday morning I get a phone call from the same 'mate’ who now works for Lloyds TSB in the city, he says "Northern Rock is a rather compelling case... look into it".

I’m glad I didn't act on his advice, the fecker could have ruined me… now he either got it spectacularly wrong or that’s one hell of a grudge he holds.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

news back from the ground from reporter the 'father in-law'. After 1.5hrs of queing they've got their money. An elderly lady in front of them tried to take all her money out from her account but they said the limit was 100K.
Does she need a toy boy?
Every transaction now needs an ok from head office with all documents being faxed. This limit may go down by the afternoon. They could make a decision to close the doors either later today or tomorrow.

Can they legally impose a limit on you withdrawing your cash?
