How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think -

As to roles being available elsewhere - I was out of work for 18 months applying for roles in the rest of the UK and I got just 4 interviews in that time. I got the impression that most of the agencies wondered why I was applying for positions so far away from where I currently lived (I think the rest of them were ageist! - but that could just be sour grapes on my part)It's Deja-vu all over again!Comment

I was born in England but brought up in Wales from age 3 and consider myself Welsh.
I once went to and Irish bar in Norway. The barman started speaking to me in Norwegian so I said sorry I'm english (as opposed to norwegian) and he started going off at me saying you come into an irish bar and tell me you're english, what the hell etc etc. So i said "actually I'm Welsh" and he said "Oh sorry mate, what can I get you"Last edited by Robster; 13 September 2007, 08:39.Comment

I can honestly say that in all my years all of the Scots I have met socially and in the workplace have been made welcome...without exception.
Whereas on all of my visits to Scotland physical threats, abusive tone and content of conversations seem to be pretty much the norm up there...it's as if the only way to define who you are, is in terms of how much you hate the English.
