Best place to live depends on how rich you are.

Lets face it, you can have a fantastic life in India if you have wealth, with a huge mansion, supercars on the drive, the best medical car, servants, a yacht, private jet, etc and down the road another person can be living in waste dump and earn $1 a day and be dying of TB.

So really all you need for a fantastic life in most countries is a large pot of cash.

Depends wat floats your boat, constant flashing lights like Vegas or peice and quiet? Most Norwegians I know cherrish the latter.
They put social agenda before work, most Brits out here I meet are annoyed as @£@£ at the attitude to work labour out here. Locals could not give a flying @£$@
Not many housing estates around where I live despite being the 2nd most populated city in Norway, everywhere is different.
Most folks finish work around 2.30/3pm, 32 hours a week is the norm.
I can choose to walk in the green countryside or shop for designer brands all within a square mile of the front door.
When on the train the conductor looked for me to give me my ticket that I reserved earlier in the week, he knew my name, purpose of travel, wished me a good day, imagine that service in the UK? I think not!
The list goes on...

I still don't know the half of it for time I've been out here I don't expect I shall by the time I leave either.

Actually I was talking about Iceland. Never been to Norway - I'd like to go and have frineds who have lived there and enjoyed it. Not so sure it would be top 10 for me though - climate is a big factor in my choice of countries. I'm only back in the UK for a few years worth of cash injection during the peak earning years before buggering off to sunnier climes again.

Don't get too depressed. I do seem to recall that the UK is number one in reduction of personal privacy and freedom. can't seem to recall the link on that one though.

Debatable. There is a evidence that wealth does not bring happiness. Britian is the fifth (or sixth) richest country in the world - yet it cannot manage better than 17 on a list of countries which are , for the majority, much less wealthier than it.

We are obviously spending money in the wrong places and constructing a society where people are not acheiving what they can. If you read the article you find that Britian does not even rank in the top 40 in hospitals beds per 1000 people. Bu the NHS is perhaps the most expensive and largest employer in the world. Our education system is failing. R&D is among he lowest in the world. At this rate all that will be left is the banks and a few McDonalds.

Certainly debatable. The UK has the longest working hours in Europe, but does not have the highest productivity.

Makes sense really, there's much more of a presenteeism culture in the UK.
