Over the past few months, I agree, there has been a degradation of the board - however, is having a poll to see who to get rid of really the best way forward?

I'm not suggesting by any means that users should not be banned - I just don't agree with having a poll to see who to keep and who to get rid off. All very Celebdaq - who's next? It's a slippery slope / thin end of the wedge etc. etc.

(And for the record, I'm not CD - I have enough to do writing drivel under my own name to waste time posting as someone else)

The poll was to make sure this banning was not done just because one or two admins felt it should be so. As people have rightly pointed out CD has not been a wholly abusive poster, more a troll along the lines of Chico and maybe it is a regular winding everyone up and maybe it isn't but to me, the kind of stuff posted is worse than religious fanaticism. Chico we could handle, nay, ridicule, a class wind-up if ever there was one. But CD is like his initials, seedy. We have no time for the ideas he presents and to me it is a dangerous way of thinking and wanted to make sure it was not an over-reaction. We do not want people visiting this board to think these ideas are acceptable or tolerated and therefore the best thing to do is ban him.

As said before, the IP address stuff is a bit of a joke - don't say it hasn't help pass the morning! No-one can really tell who is posting under multiple IDs although you can make some educated guesses.

Having just read CDs final tome requesting removal and the vote count standing at 20 to 5 in favour of a ban then I must say that the light grows dim in the halls of CUK, the black hood is adorned and CD walks slowly, visibly shaking, towards the gallows...

If CD or his other IDs have breached the ts and cs to the extent that would normally earn a banning, ban him. If not he should probably stay no matter how vile his views. Just because he'd have others gagged or shot or whatever if he could, doesn't mean we should stoop to his level. Having said that,if he does go, I won;t shed a tear or be clamouring for his reinstatement.

The whole multiple IDs is a bit odd really.

All well and good admin, but how come no action has ever been taken with those advocating voting for the BNP ? Infact even having links to the manifesto and other selected propoganda. It seems there are double standards on this board. CD has brused some egos, when infact most of it was tongue in cheek. He was certainly not as bad as painted. Maybe the Witch-hunting is the way forward?

Perhaps the next one should be for those who bully new posters?
