So how’s the doughnut? When I was there the basement level used to flood at the first sign of drizzle, at least they have their own power station.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

I was never a 'member' just an installation engineer, we used to sit in the rest areas with a copy of the times held up to our faces with eye holes cut out... I'm surprised I lasted there so long as the staff are somewhat lacking in the humour department.

The River Chelt burst its banks on Friday and many houses were flooded out and drivers were trapped in their cars. I was in the leisure centre at the time and the water from the Chelt flooded into the swimming pool and the building was evacuated. Because of flash flooding I was unable to get home until Saturday even though I drive a 4 by 4 Volvo. On Monday I woke up to no electricity or water. The electricity came back yesterday but there is still no water.

I heard on Sky News this morning that Tewsksbury is going to get their water back today but still no mention when the people living in Chletenham and Gloucester are going to get their water switched back on. In the meantime our livilihoods are being ruined.

After all this do you think that houses built on hills will attract a premium? I hope so.

Well the floods - whatever their cause are a stark reminder of the fragility of our civilised way of life. And the loss of energy and water throws it into chaos.

Just read this on The Radio Gloucestershire website.

I believe that the water bowsers need to be patrolled by police or volunteers and rationed. In Cheltenham I have seen a person attach a hose pipe to a bowser and emptying water into huge containers and loading it in the back of a van! No wonder ordinary households are finding bowsers empty when they get home after work! I have also heard of people buying water in local shops and selling it to flood victims!

All the pubs are closed in Cheltenham and so is my leisure centre (Leisure at Cheltenham) which was flooded out last Friday.

Bowsers have arrived but they are being used by people who are taking the water and selling it. It is a nightmare here in Gloucestershire.
I live in Cheltenham. There is enough water in the supermarkets.
We are using mineral water to wash and clean , contractor stylee.

Four meals from anarchy. Great illustration of how fragile the whole of society is. If the electric, gas and water supplies went off, 24 hours later there would be total chaos, a week later people would be killing each other and forming armed gangs for protection....
