Dont forget to ask for a reciept.

There is no such thing as 'too much money'

Probably quite realistic, chubba, although I don't like to accept it (denial!). The thought of doing a permie job for half the dosh is not one that I enjoy.

Now where did I put that plan B...

Why should you not continue to be gainfully employed if you continue to update your skills (or indeed specialise in a niche field) throughout your 'career'?

            Winston,

1, perhaps this time next year.
            2, wait one year
            3, go to 1

Just in case Darling’s minions are looking: I’m so poor that I cannot afford shoes, so I don’t need a shoe shine guy.

                agreed buff,

it takes a first rate plonker to start a thread with such a title

I too am one of the lowest paid poorest contractors around

If you have too much money, just buy a (big) house in the South East. You'll be poor then!

PS. When is the next budget due?

You might be in an accident and lose the ability to work, or develop an illness or disease that incapacitates you. A family member or loved one may need long-term care that you might want to provide. The world economy could go tits up meaning there are no well paid jobs or that all jobs are outsourced to the likes of India. Imagine that!

Lots of things out of your control can happen in your life. Lovely to earn a really good wage but remember what it was like when you were a student or in first jobs at sub £20k per year. Those days could so easily return and that £3 would come in really handy then...
