And I reckon we'll do a great job. Last time we overthrew an Iranian leader, it needed an Islamic revolution to get rid of our dictator. We'll obviously have learnt our lessons and it will be a piece of cake this time. -
Left alone with the weapons inspectors! Saddam was doing a pretty good job of dealing with al qu'aeda.Originally posted by DodgyAgentSo maybe you could explain how exactly Saddam Hussein should have been dealt with.No. Saddam wasn't threatening us or the rest of Europe like Hitler was.Or would you also argue that Neville Chamberlain had it right with Hitler in WW2?Comment

Wasn't really a need for a sequel, was there.

What we should have done is arm Iraq & Iran with short range nukes.
Bit of behind the scenes juggling by the CIA and we could of had them at each others throats.
Once they had nuked themselves back to the stone age, all the oil would have been ours. Oh! and the rest of the coalitionConfusion is a natural state of beingComment

As I tell me eye-ranian friends here in London (and equally applies to me yankee and english friends), you get the government you deserve!
Probably the best quote Ive seen come out of Iran was during a female muslim soccer competition a couple years ago when the members of the eye-ranian team couldnt understand why their British friends would be "fighting" so hart to wear a veil when they have "fought" all their lives to ditch it!

Interesting that you are putting words in to his mouth...especially when he never used the magic words "illegal" innit!Originally posted by Old GregAmerican neocon Richard Perle admitted the illegality for one (although he still maintained it was justified).

Then again, maybe you should ask Shayler or Gunn about being traitors while you are at it

I'm interpreting his words ("I think in this case international law stood in the way of doing the right thing.") in the context of your question.Originally posted by MailmanInteresting that you are putting words in to his mouth...especially when he never used the magic words "illegal" innit!

International law stood in the way
Therefore
It's against international law
Therefore
It's illegal
Not too big a jump, eh?Comment
