we have one in the office who is clearly gay.

You make it sound like gay people are a rare thing or a mascot for the company. I have a few gay friends and they are a good laugh. Being gay should not change someone's opinion on you or treat them differently.

Only a small minority of gay men demonstate stereotypical homosexual mannerisms. Also, it is quite common to keep things private in the workplace (where you cannot choose your companions) yet lead an open life socially.

Some of you sheltered young things would be very surprised if you knew the real picture.
