    Why would being a discharged bankrupt prevent you from working in a bank unless it was a regulated "Approved Person" position?

      Insolvency and bankruptcy data are kept in the London/Edinburgh/Belfast Gazettes in perpetuity and cannot be erased. I believe this is because capitalist relations between the rich and poor are defined by debt and bankruptcy subverts that status quo. Therefore you are regarded as subversive.
