What I would like to know is what was going through the "officials" mind when he declined the request?
What value does this "civil servant" put on a VC? One earned fighting for HIS country during its time of need.
The real shame here is the fact that this so called civil servant didnt have the ability to think for himself and grant the old geezer what he was after. After all, this old bugger put his life on the line for King and Country and was rewarded for his efforts with a but of brass (that was taken off him anyways).
