My partner needs to work (psychologically) and is not in IT (Office manager, SAGE Payroll & Accounting). Also she wouldn't contemplate the US.

She also smokes: would like to be able to go out sometime and have a drink and a smoke. Went to Scotland at start of year and just didn't go out. Don't want that.

Don't have capital to buy house with. Dont have much savings either so desperately need to work for next 10 years on good pay.

it is fear of being in a situation like that that motivates me to work hard now !

          So comforting !!!

I rely on distant but still painful memories of doing 12 hour night shifts in a bakery when my IT morale is low.

What, because no savings? I have saved, I just fail to be the current possessor of these savings

You need money at your age - then you would find that everyone welcomes you.. (does US still grant visas to those with $1000000 cash?) without this I'm afraid the best bet would be to either top, yourself or in your dotage throw yourself at the mercy of this socialist eutopia that St Tony is building

Pakistan? They let almost everyone in and you don't have to worry about the weather - always sunny. Houses are quite cheap. Health care - good if you pay top rupee. Language will be a problem.

Plus the bonus being if you become resident in Pakistan it will then make it a lot easier to move to any of the other places mentioned in this thread!!

I was also thinking of Sweden.

Aus would be alright but it is a bit far from family/friends over here.
Much lower in Canada - but then the cost of living is also much lower. Not a huge contracting culture - similar to states. Most go into contract hopeing for a perm. job.
