Nationwide Building Society House Price Index May 22

Key points:

• Annual UK house price growth slowed modestly in May to 11.2%, from 12.1% in April
• Prices up 0.9% month-on-month after taking account of seasonal effects

An interesting report from Nationwide this month on the state of play in the housing market. Even their chief economist Robert Gardner has been surprised by how robust the demand for property has been. However, they are expecting the market to slow as the year progresses as household budgets come under pressure.
