Tony Blair has defended a move to ask judges to jail only the most dangerous and persistent criminals.

The prime minister told the Commons that Home Secretary John Reid was simply reminding the courts of existing sentencing policy in England and Wales.

The PM added that there would be 2,000 extra prison places by the end of the year, and 8,000 more on top of that.

The Tories called the latest decision "outrageous", and the Liberal Democrats accused ministers of "incompetence".

This is a preemption of the sentences for Bliar & mates when the cash-for-honour investigation finished.

So if you commit a fairly serious crime you don't get sent down for it until you have done it x number of times. Instead you get hit with an ASBO which you can completely ignore. Nice one Blair. He really is a fookwit of the highest order.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

            I preferred version 1!

Were you being Labour or the prison population in general specific in your comment?
If you look at the prison population since the abolition of capital punishment in 1964 - it has gone from 10,000 - to the present 80,000.
You could conclude that today’s prison problem and much of the lawlessness affecting British society was caused by removal of the death sentence as a possible sanction.
One possible remedy would indeed be to reinstate this measure & indeed hang 'em all - & naturally this would also include all the present labour party politicians & members, their families, much of the BBC & all pinko journalists.
I believe this is known as the ‘Pinochet’ option,
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

But what if the police claim the person driving was your other half and it isnt him just a case of wrong place, wrong time.

Its happened before, the last person hung in England was later proved not guilty i do beleive

I know it's bloody stupid! what's that saying? don't do the crime if you can't do the time. which suggests that everyone who commits a crime goes to prison but I think that we have all established that isnt the case thanks to Blair
