I think you can be overweight, and still be ok. But when your belly starts looking like a bum, it's time to do something about it!

"Itll be me then. 5'11 and 17 stone."

Most people don't think I weigh 17stone, but the years of weight lifting has left with a solid sculptured body with a layer of fat over the top.

BMI categories do not apply to people with "abnormal" physiques, i.e. people with abnormal ratios of muscle versus fat due to weight-training or due to them being top athletes.

To put it another way, it's not OK to be the same weight and height as Johnny if your weight is carried as fat, compared to his muscle.

To put it even more simply, if you have his measurement, and you don't do weights, and aren't expecting an England call-up soon, you're fat.

That's what I was implying, I'm 180m and 84 kilos but I'm also in shape
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Fair enough. But, from memory ,in shape (for BMI exemption purposes) means a few hours physical training per day. And not just any exercise, it must actually build muscle. I row for 24 minutes a day, but even if I rowed for four hours solid five days a week it would not count because the rowing machine is on a low resistance setting, so I would not be building muscle.

Edit: I think you can confirm whether BMI applies to you by measuring body fat percentage - but Google knows more than I do.

Edit 2: Your measurements have you as only fractionally overweight anyway, not worth worrying about.
