Yes - I did this several time, the more rubbish your original diet is the more rubbish you'd feel while on the detox... first time I did this (around 4 years ago) I felt bad for 3 days then it went away, now I do it often, but don't feel bad at all... but I don't eat a lot of rubbish foods anymore, most food I go for is wholesome not Frankenstein food (i.e. nothing out of a packet or a bag), and I don't drink (alcohol) that much -only on special occasions.

      It's all commense ffs.

      Garbage in garbage out anyone?

As an intelligent person I'll assume that you know what is generally considered good for the body and what is junk (hint: if it comes in a packet it's generally not that good)

That said, all things in moderation...

Not as simple as that, and not all calories are equal

What I mean is if you eat a piece of protein (chicken of fish is best ) the may have xxx amount of calories, but for your body to break the protein and generate energy (sugar molecules)it needs at least xxx/3 (breaking protein down is hard work for the body.... however if you eat any starches (bread/rice/potatoes/sugar) then your body breaks it down to be sugar molecules with no effort at all.. so if you eat a swet which had xxx calories again, then your body will have that exact calories in, nothing gets lost in the process of breaking it down...

SA - have you read Volumetric?? its a good book IMO, but I personally find it so much easier if I don't eat bread (am intolerant to wheat anyway), and eat very little potatoes/rice and sweets, this helped me maintain a size 10 to 12 for years now, hence WOL for me (way of life)

These diets are a waste of time luv. Your weight goes up and down like a yoyo. Just get yourself preggo by some wealth contractor guy, have the sprog, then let yourself go in a big way, wallow in your own goose fat. You get half his loot and a cream cake in every orifice.

            SallyAnn,

As a general rule, eat less sugar and starch, eat more fat. Fat stems your hunger better, and is harder for the body to digest (and "turn into calories") than sugar or starch.

Whatever you do, don't do the gym - it is feckin boring, artificial, and full of the self-obsessed. Get out and do something more interesting, more natural, and with a point to it. If you're a plumper, go on a very long walk every day, for at least an hour preferably two, until the day when you are light enough to do some jogging or play a sport without damaging your joints.

No need to eat less - just eat right. Superfoods, vits and minerals, brekkie, big lunch, small dinner, balanced with protein combos like brown rice + chickpeas, intensely coloured fresh/frozen veg cooked lightly = more vits generally, broccoli, spinach, asparagus, butternut and sweet potato instead of normal pots, less 'white' bleached carbs and more wholegrain etc.

Less coffee - no added sugar and no aspartame in drinks, cut out sweets, cigs, s*x, swearing, alcohol and get yourself neutered - may as well go the whole hog.

Good stuff, but less s*x? S*x has got to be good for you!

Except for Cliff Richard of course.

In his case less s*x = more saccharin

I agree with the sugar thing.

Refined sugar is the cause of excess fat in Western diets - period. Well IMHO anyways.

Just check out the low fat con - everyone eating low fat meals are fat, why? Because there is loads of sugar in them. The lack of fat means that you are hungry straight after and so the cycle continues.

Beer bellies are caused by all the excess sugar in beer (I should know).

Try eating lighter meals for you tea that are filling such as omelletes and don't whatever you do eat any chocolates or sweets whilst you are trying to lose fat. Also keep your desk full of fresh fruit at work and only ever snack on this.

Processed food will not generally work if you seek to lose fat.

It was tongue-in-cheek, so to speak.
