    No. That was newspaper spin on 'highest yearly increase'.

    So for example ours went up from, 38.1 to 38.3 whilst other countries went up from 42.1 to 42.2 (or even down).

    It is true that the policies of NL are increasing the UK's tax take faster than every other EU counry. But we still haven't caught up with the historicaly high levels of taxation in most of the EU15.

      It says income tax. Income tax is income tax. Everything else is something else.

      Do you not think that other countries have NI on top of their Income Tax. They do, and many of them make the 20% charged in the UK look like small change (up to 70% in France I understand).

      (BTW your maths is wrong. The calculation is not additive - I wish I got a fiver for every time I have to say this)

        I guess either way you look at it, England isnt a low tax country.
