The Tories would be mad to call an election now

Trouble with those fees is the numbers going to university make it impossible to return to the days where it would be free. It's been mentioned here - and all over the place - but why not make core (say STEM) degrees have free places? It would also increase competition for these places and therefore standards too. Double win. -
Because the cost will be larger than most anticipate in terms of bungs to the DUP, and the arrangement is deeply unpopular when polled.Originally posted by The_Equalizer View PostIn which case it works both ways. To ensure they have a technicial majority why not butter up the DUP given the 'cost' isn't that great?Comment

The latter is important. I still suspect they'll be some kind of arrangement even if it isn't 'formally agreed'.Originally posted by jamesbrown View PostBecause the cost will be larger than most anticipate in terms of bungs to the DUP, and the arrangement is deeply unpopular when polled.Comment

I detest the Lib Dems. When they first went into coalition with labour in the first Scottish parliament, they said they were 100% going to 'abolish tuition fees'. What they did was move them to the point of graduation, but still continued to loudly proclaim that they had 'abolished tuition fees' and in fact, they regularly still say it was them that made uni tuition free in Scotland.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostNever seems to bother the LibDEms? Tuition fees 2011? Or is that too long ago now? When freedom comes along, don't PISH in the water supply.....Comment

That has to be a huge sum of money - did they ever tell us how they were going to pay for it?Comment

A new GE would be the better option.Originally posted by The_Equalizer View PostWhich is why the DUP is the better option.
This minority government cannot agree who should sit round the table after nearly two weeks. What the heck are they going to achieve during the exit negotiations? The EU have all the cards."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment

If they do they will have to trade in their minibus which they use to transport their ENTIRE number of UK MPs around for maybe a motorbike with side carOriginally posted by BlasterBates View PostThat's why they're holding talks with the Lib-Dems.
Tories hold talks with the Lib-Dems about a possible coalition
, and the can then also hold their conference after the next election in a telephone box
