              And I'm not sure they can distinguish genuine start ups from foreign people opening UK subsidiaries.

                It could just be the case that techies over here see more money in safer sectors or are traditionally more risk averse and prefer the safe routes. A good quant techie doesn't need to take risks.

                We're also seeing our brightest bods go elsewhere, discovering graphene and pushing other science boundaries as tech routes.
