47% to Remain. I'm not sure what's going on with these ICM phone polls, as they seem to completely contradict all the other phone polls, which show a healthy lead for Remain. The ICM online polls are fairly strong for Leave too versus other online polls. Anyway, I'll take itOriginally posted by scooterscot View Post47% to leave?

During the General Election, there were loads of UKIP posters everywhere. They got a lot of votes but it made no difference.
The system is stacked against change.
The polling makes me wonder whether people really want to leave or are just being bolshie because they don't like being told what to think by politicians and vested interests.Comment

Hey I did put in a smiley. Doesn't seem to be me that's taking it personally. Perhaps a "joke" is a concept you're not familiar with?Originally posted by jamesbrown View PostThere are a few posters on both side of this (I'm biased, but I'd say primarily the Bremain side
) that seem to be taking things very personally. You appear to view this as ~50% of the population voting against everything you believe in. We're talking about our membership of a supranational bureaucracy, not the End of Days. We'll be billing as usual come June 24. Insulting ~50% of the population in every other post gives the impression that you're rattled and bereft of anything substantial to say. You've become radicalised by the campaign. Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment

I seriously hope that, whichever side loses, they accept the result. It probably isn't going to happen though. At one point, I thought Remain would take this 60/40, and I think even hardcore leavers would've had to accept that, but that seems all but impossible now. Sadly, it's probably going to be ugly, either way.Originally posted by scooterscot View PostYou and me both. But I suspect the crap will just begin on the 24th. Half of the country, or thereabouts, is going to be blooming miserable.Comment

Referendums do damage. The wounds back home are still very visible."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment

See, there you go again. I wasn't commenting only on that post. Anyway, you seem like a nice chap outside of the EU threads....just a little quick to call all leavers idiots. Clearly, they aren't.Originally posted by VectraMan View PostHey I did put in a smiley. Doesn't seem to be me that's taking it personally. Yup. It's going to totally destroy the Tories, that's for sure. Every cloud...Originally posted by scooterscot View PostAfter the Scottish referendum half were inconsolable for months.

Maybe it's just what I see around here, but what I do see here and on the TV and what I overhear people saying it seems to me Leave is the clear winner. And I think despite all the arguments it's only really down to immigration.Originally posted by OwlHoot View PostBut I don't think it's at all a forgone conclusion that Remain will win.
The interesting question will be how the British people will take it when they realise how little difference Brexit has made. Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment

On that, we're in complete agreement. However, I do think this will be good for democracy in the long run. It has been too easy to blame the EU, often unfairly, for everything we hate about excessive gov't (although mostly fairlyOriginally posted by VectraMan View PostThe interesting question will be how the British people will take it when they realise how little difference Brexit has made.
