Offer them a support contract. Industry standard is 15- 20% of the order value p.a. depending on the level of support i.e. 24x7x365 SLA availability 99.9 etc etc

You have to swap it for your IPSE badge. You'd know that if you were a member.

Human nature if you can get it sorted for free do so. If you've done it once then they may expect it forever though.

I've done this in the past for clients I like. As a gesture of good will but its just been a few 10 min phone calls and they didnt take the p*ss.

BUT I did have one guy phone me from one client. I didnt know him that well and he had a bit of a rep when I was there at client as a right stroppy git. He called me months after I'd left. Left me about 5 voicemails in an hour. I called him back lunchtime and explained I was working elsewhere now but he still saw fit to have a right go at me about something I hadnt even been involved with.

        After this, blocked his number....

You were too nice. I would have phoned HR up and politely explained I didn't work on the project so why was one of their employees harassing me?

It's for this reason I only ever give clients an easily disposed 'work only' mobile number during contracts. Works with agent too.

Tend to have a separate work mobile to my personal mobile so easy to manage, and easy to leave the work one at home or turned off when I ain't interested in working.

They usually have my personal email too post contract but that's a lot easier to ignore or get round to replying at my own convenience not theirs.

Once had someone at an old client ring me for support a week or so after the contract ended. Was simple enough so gave the answer but then 'joked' that any further calls would incur a minimum charge. They never rang again.

Now if any become a pain in the ass post contract I just ditch the number.
Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

You know nowadays you can get apps to block numbers?

The other person just thinks either you are not available as it goes straight to voicemail or thinks that you aren't around to pick up your phone as it just rings.

Oh and both Android and iPhone does it straight from the box but they don't flag up who is calling.

Really? Blocks all withheld or blacklisted numbers automatically?

I have an android phone for personal use, find the internet ability invaluable when out and about, but still have an old fashion blackberry style Nokia for work calls. I suppose I could move to one phone if I can ensure personal life not impeded too much by unwanted calls and by premie workaholics sending txts and emails at all hours.

Any android app names to avoid me searching? Some love searching like it's an addiction, but the benefit of the internet it to share info without needing to search.

Ok, bringing NLUK into this is uncalled for.

Generally people who phoned me where nice about it - apart from this guy.
