Always annoys be when agents ask about the current rate - it's nothing to do with them and they may get excited or put off depending on where their gig is

I just say that it doesn't matter as my rate varies depending on the location and the work involved (picking out hospital passes and avoiding them or taking them on for the right price is something you learn).
