Note to cretins, starting and running businesses, not living of housing benefits, JSA, income support and demanding the locals change their culture to suit them.
Why don't you join them? You'd fit in. They're mostly poorly educated older people who are even less integrated into Spanish society than most Uk immigrants, speaking no Spanish, living in their own enclaves, and being older, burdening the Spanish health service. The small businesses they start are geared towards the English community, and are not really job creating. In fact, apart from their older profile, they're much like the self employed Muslim enclaves in the North

Most Brits could not handle a "New Life in the Sun". That is because they are usually narrow-minded parochials that lack the imagination and experience to fully appreciate that actually living abroad as opposed to having a fortnight's holiday are often poles apart.
Most people that have actually spent sizeable amounts of time living and working abroad appreciate that, despite a number of pitfalls, this country still holds more for them than most foreign alternatives.
And the benefits of Blighty grow exponentially as you age too.

There are grim places in the north but there are in the south as well.

There are some beautiful places in the north, great cities, better standard of living, lower property prices etc.

Ten years living round there and you'll have a face like Sid James.

You'd stay younger looking for longer if you emigrated to northern Finland. I bet property is cheap round there too.

Seriously, how much money does one need to become a Swiss citizen, property aside?

If I was emigrating, I'd probably favour somewhere round southern Switzerland near the Italian border, or perhaps just over it in northern Italy.

Does that mean after a Brexit everyone will **** off back up North as Europe isn't important anymore
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

                    You can keep it.
You cant judge the whole of t'North by living in the North East.

Visiting MrsBP in the North, I am always depressed by the North. Mostly as you lose 20 minutes of sunlight per day.

My mother came from the North. Poor cow.
