You are right concerning business visa. I have an ECAA visa (also called "self employed visa") which allows freelancing and setting up in business in the form of limited company, partnership or sole trader.

I should have been more specific regarding this.
The funny fact is that many have come on this type of visa doing building work without even a limited company and Home Office granted them extensions without a problem. In my case the only issue was the proof of payment of tax not the immigration category and associated rights. Altough I explained thoroughly that I have incorporated a company in October last year and I can't supply a Corporation Tax return yet, the assumption was that I deserve to be refused.
I can understand that each country has a specific immigration policy at one moment in time, what I don't understand is why I am refused and some builder doing half the income cash in hand is allowed and even granted "leave to remain"...
      The rest is silence...

So in summary, the UK market is wide open for foreign workers, permie or contract.

Hence both employment and unemployment going up, and ridiculous talk of seizing peoples houses to accomodate the influx of immigrants.

Viktor: you're obviously not supporting the black economy, which is rascist innit.

You mean the Lowly Skilled Migrant Cash In Hand Tax Evasion Program.

            It's been a roaring success....

Yes, your visa is okay for what you do. Home Office in this case is unreasonable as you can't calculate CT due before full end of year - it can actually be zero if you pay yourself salary, which could be the way out. Take IR regulations and attach them to the appeal, make sure you paid yourself salary and employer/employee NICs, at least this way you can demonstrate that tax is being paid here.

mcquiggd: this kind of visa is open to ECC only - basically it is redundant now since more of those countries are full EU members now and can come and work here as they please.

Yes, just like you can contract in Germany, Holland and other countries - how would you like having to get a visa to work there? Naturally EU members enjoy right of work without having to go through this crap.

Remember - people who work in this country have to pay taxes even if they dodge income tax: most of money Gordon steals from people is from indirect taxation - fuel duty, VAT, booze duty etc, but if those people stay in India or wherever then their breakeven point is much lower, I'd rather compete with a guy who wants to earn 5-10k less than me in this country, than with the same guy in another country where he could live okay on salary 20-30k less.

Actually in most of those countries it seems I would... for example I would have to work through a Dutch payroll company, Germany would'nt recognise me as PSC, and note another members trouble with Belgium trying to deport him despite him legally being allowed to work there.

My point is also that EU enlargement should not have happened. It was enough as it was. Enlargement is driven by corporate interests. And don't tell me you don't feel concerned about it either.

Agreed, Alexei. Except the last two future members, which will be f*&^% up in order for UK politicians to proudly say "Now we have immigration in control!" and grab some votes from mcquiggd...
