PS4 if he doesn't have a gaming PC or likes the exclusives.
WiiU is cheaper but I doubt that matters to you, and it has a broader range of exclusives, many of which are geared to kids, if he's in that age range; not as powerful as the Xbox or PS, though, which are comparable to a mid range gaming PC.Comment

PS 4 (if you have to buy console).
Basically more raw power than XBone, unless you specifically like the exclusives for XBone it makes sense to get PS4.
