You'll be the richest man in the graveyard Milan, that's for sure.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

      time will tell

anyway, until you get above a certain threshold it isn't worth having jack anyway, as you'll have too much to get handouts and not enough to live from

from next summer I'll be doing less weekends

what about the rest of you ?

anyone else trying to make hay while the sun shines, get some wedge in the bank before 40 ? or are you all too old to have goals like this ?

I suppose the key is too start contracting at as young an age as possible.

      Milan.

Not really. I can guarantee you that you will become old and eventually end up in a graveyard (and same for me).

No sh1t, Sherlock! It also helps if you win a lottery or two.
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

            Well I'm 48 and semi-retired.

I started contracting when I was in my mid 20s.

When I was 36 I started my own small consultancy using contacts I'd made in the business to get work.

I then wanted to 'downsize' and moved to the rural idyl with my family.

            It's lovely.

The only thing is I'm a bit bored now and looking for another challenge. Not for the money - just for the fun and satisfaction of it.

But don't burn all your weekends away Milan. I did too much of that and regret it, really. Would rather have a bit less dosh in the bank and have had better times along the way.

I have been contracting for 2 years (I'm 31) and am trying to balance having a healthy bank account with my high-spending tendencies.
