My mum received the same letter you're talking about from Sky. Looking for some advice.
Must admit when we first opened it, we were worried... Then I googled 'Golden Eye International'.
The website looks like a year 6 ICT project.
Am I safe? It's crazy because my Mum is 100% innocent and yet Sky have released her data to this random company who now as a result know where we live. I know that Sky were ordered by the courts to hand over the details but surely that is wrong?
As someone mentioned, IP's can be duplicated, hacked or we could even have a porn addict who pulls up to our house and accesses our internet at 4am.
Am I right in thinking an IP doesn't identify the device?
My first proper grown-up girlfriend (although I spent most of my effort trying not to see her more than twice a week) freaked out a bit when she discovered I occasionally looked at porn. She freaked out a little too, having only ever been with Americans previously, until she discovered that a foreskin is normal. She shoulda watched more porn.
I've got mates whos wives would literally divorce them if they thought they looked at porn. All a bit sad if you ask me.
I remember years ago on a rugby trip ending up in a lapdancing place in Edinburgh. Bit crap it was mind. Some of my mates were almost catatonic the next day at the thought of the mrs finding out. I remember the conversation with my mrs though.
"So what you end up doing last night after"
"Few beers, ended up lapdancing place"
"You sad twat"

Sounds a bit like MF's Champagne lounges and First class travel. As real as unicorn tulip.

"You sad twat, I'm not doing the business, again, until you have been to the clinic"

Lots of questions sorry - new to the forum
Thanks! fellow copyright infringers.
Been looking into this and the same company tried this a few years and failed. Got defeated in court and some dogy lawyer got into trouble. Looks like they're having another go. It seems they've made a bit of business out of this.
I would imagine the courts just don't understand it which is why they forced Sky to do this. I would agree - IP address proves nothing. I would also question how accurate the server logs would be.
Also, its easy for a company to work out Skys address range, randomly select a list and then tell the court - these people were downloading our stuff honestly. Complete tulipe.
Last time they sent something like 10000 demands for £700 each. I'm betting they did well out of people who just paid up because they were crapping themselves.
Apparently, the thing to do, if you get a demand letter, is to reply denying it all. Chances are they will leave it alone then. Like I said, plenty of people who will pay with no further hassle needed.
Ever been to a lapdancing place Mr M. No chance of actually getting any action.
Its full of sad cases with only some half decent women. Of course the men think they've got a chance but all your getting, as I said, is some bird waving her bits in your face for 5 mins then she pockets the £20 thinking "you sad mug".
There always seem to be big bouncers watching your every move so its strictly hands by sides. Any attempt to actually touch any of the women I would imagine would result in a good kicking out the back.
To be honest, if you're mrs is concerned you're gonna knob someone else, a lapdancing place is the safest place you could be cos you've got no chance!

Depends where you go. Some of the, ahem, better, ones have been shut down.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't exist
