No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.Comment

Now say BigCompany wants to hire a specialist small company to replace it's roof, and they get a small one man band in (LtdRoofingCo) to do it over a few months.
Will BigCompany now be obliged to advertise for a permie positions, with associated pensions, training, holiday pay, inductions, appraisals, sick pay, employment rights, NICs etc? Or will they just want to get LtdRoofingCo in to do it for an agreed price, B2B?
This is why I can't see this ever working.Originally posted by Nigel Farage MEP - 2016-06-24 04:00:00"I hope this victory brings down this failed project and leads us to a Europe of sovereign nation states, trading together, being friends together, cooperating together, and let's get rid of the flag, the anthem, Brussels, and all that has gone wrong."Comment

Just remember that in the early days of computing the guys were put in the typing pool! They were subjected to merciless sexism. Luckily that was after the time I started(1984).Originally posted by MicrosoftBob View PostSpeak for yourself, I haven't got the legs to be a typist
Oh I agree with you. I am just telling you what the government(and their puppet masters HMRC) will say.Originally posted by rl4engc View PostI'm a skilled tradesman and a mouse and keyboard are the tools of my trade.

Maybe, the perception was / is it will all be run offshore in the future.

The other possibility (good probability in my view) is that they've processed a large fraction of the responses to the T&S consultation and IR35 discussion and realised, due to the deconstruction and overwhelming criticism of the proposals contained therein, that they don't have workable proposals. Together with the several earlier reviews that have failed to identify workable proposals (from their perspective), this may have prompted an extreme reaction from HMT with an underlying motivation of increasing income (contrary to the tone of a more measured, proportionate, response, behind the scenes, from HMRC).Originally posted by ChimpMaster View PostI get the feeling we're missing the bigger picture here.
What with all the other restrictions and additional taxation that the government is forcing upon contractors and Ltd Cos, it would well be that this article was deliberately leaked simply to distract everyone from this summer's budget.Comment
