                      reefer
                      madness

(Reefer + Madness) is a nod to the song by Hawkwind (Reefer Madness).

Madness, as a standalone word association, ties in with a comment by Suggs from Madness, when the band had ended and he was asked what he intended to do and he said "I wasn't snapped up by Whitesnake or Iron Maiden" (hence the Iron Maiden link above).

"Can I play with madness ?" doubles back to re-reference the band of the same name, and also, medically speaking, is the effect of sustained cannabis use, and hence back to "reefer".

(and before anyone says "you must be on the stuff to write the above", I'm not. I just like literary word challenges)
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

                      C.S. Lewis
