Cameron promised to serve the full term and then stand down if he won. Can he remain PM if he steps down early as party leader to let someone else run for GE2020?

        Yes.

As long as the PM commands the confidence of the house, then they stay - whether they are party leader or not.

There was a thing on the BBC about it a while ago.

Boris should remain MoL in my view. I can't ever see him losing a mayoral election, and he serves the Conservative cause well in that post. If the job passed to a Labour person, it would be a constant voice of critisism raised against everything the Torys did.

Boris is not a debater. His cheerful ebullience is not suited to scoring political points. See how he floundered against Ed M. on that TV sofa last week.

I think it's crazy that this joker is allowed to hold down at least three jobs (mayor, MP and telegraph columnist) simultaneously... and get paid out of the public purse for two of them. You can't tell me he's doing as good a job as he would be if he didn't have as much on his plate!
