Assuming that both plugs are on the same ring main. Doesn't work at my parents house, for example, because the lounge and the study are on different mains (or something like that, I really wasn't that interested when my dad was explaining it to me).

I could use a 'wifi range extender', which would provide an Ethernet socket as well as shining wifi further down the house. About £15 upwards.

You could. That would impact the speed of your wifi as I understand it, though (which is very little).

When you say 'only iplayer', does that really mean it won't do other channels of catch up TV, e.g. ITV?
It's hard to tell when the product is limited, from when the description on Curry's website is written by a muppet.

Get a Now TV box for catch-up. They randomly do deals where you can get them for a tenner and get a cheap voucher for a month so you can log in and it works.
