I went to listen to Tony Benn give a talk once (circa 1992). He said that under Socialism there wouldn't be enough money for everyone to have two BMWs parked in their drive but people could learn French instead, that would never run out.Originally posted by wendigo100He was talented, but not for government. He was quite mad. Harold Wilson said so himself.
Imagine - learning French as a consumer good - mad.Comment

He was quite obviously a loony. He should have offered learning Polish and Romanian as alternatives.Vieze Oude Man

Nooooooooooh! Not Prescott!! Not the man that wants to turn our green and pleasant middle England into an enormous housing estate, presumably to teach the Southern middle class a lesson in beer and sandwiches socialism.Originally posted by EternalOptimistno one has mentioned Prescott. If he is good enough for deputy he is good enough to go permie
Not Clarke either, or beancounter Brown, or Beckett.
It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. www.areyoupopular.mobiComment

Funny how none of the London based 'Scottish Mafia' is proposing to build on the underpopulated areas of Scotland, yet they are so terribly concerned about the falling population here, they are offering all sorts of (UK wide <cough reality="English"/>financed, of course) inititiatives to get foreigners to move to Scotland.
Polish is fast becoming Scotland's second language. And guess what. unemployment is up - amongst... Scots.
The UK is like a reality TV show where the Simpsons are in charge of the country...Last edited by mcquiggd; 9 September 2006, 00:33.Vieze Oude Man
