So voting No with a EU ref looming for the UK, where we could get taken out of the EU if we all vote to stay in. At least with indy we choose to get back in or stay out.

People keep talking about risks for Yes but the risks for a No are just if not more as big.

Obvious I think. The Scottish Parliament would be sovereign, and could withdraw from the EU at any point through an Act. Under the current arrangement there is no way for the Scottish people or Parliament to gain independence except via an Act of the UK Parliament.

Just curious to know if Unix & Batcher are single men? Or do you have a young ( or grown up ) families?

I picked up from an earlier post that Jemb is a family man.

I think it was Darling who said that if the vote is no they will be able to spend more money on these projects - if they could raise the money to spend!

This seems to be a bit of the crux the yes campaigners would have you think that voting yes means you can spend more money on these things -- only if you have it though and that bit seems to be being glossed over.

          Anyway back to the popcorn

You nearly hit the nail on the head. We want to spend the money where it is needed spreading it out more evenly. It's all about how you use your budget.

Westminster would prefer to spend £100 Billion on WMDs that will never be used and are not a deterent to the real threats from terrorists like ISIS and cyber attacks. We would prefer to spend our share of that on social issues on the poorer parts of Scotland, raising people out of poverty and creating jobs.

And so it begins. The 'It's not fair' whinge. Expect to hear a heck load more of that if there's a yes vote, and the actual realities of 'Independence' starts to set in.

BTW I am hopping for a yes vote, this thread has been way too enjoyable to end this week.

Married with a grown up family. All of us are voting yes.

My wife isn't particulary political but she's started shouting at the telly when No capaigners are given time to answer questions but the Yes campaigners are interrupted by the interviewers

Because if you vote No (as looks likely), you're sure going to be screwed over by Westminster over DevoMax. They're dusting off the statue of Butcher Cumberland as we speak for Edinburgh Castle.

Either way, I think this island is never going to be the same again, and that is probably for the best. With risks of course.
...not sure why you assume DevoMax would be screwed over. It actually makes a lot of sense for the UK as a whole.

.... if Salmond was planning to bring a Stuart back I might vote 'Yes'...is Duke Franz still alive? If we had a German as our king it might be easier to swing the EU thing.
