    Is it annoying? Certainly
    Is it morally questionable? Arguably
Is it sharp business practice? Yes
Is it a criminal act? No

I do think people get a little carried away with the impact of lead hunting by agents. At worst it wastes five minutes of your time and any leads they harvest tend to ignore them anyway.

If someone wants to put something together to put in front of the Department of BIS to encourage Recruitment Agents to be licensed then I am all ears but don't waste the Police's time.

This could be a case of forum defraudation that the mods will surely have to deal with.
I have nothing to add except for I'm fairly sure defraudation isn't a word.

Nice bit of casual sexism there.

In this particular instance, you were extremely stupid but on top of that you actually called the police ? I have no doubt you probably were the subject of much mirth round that station that day.
Ahem, I actually went into the police station and that's where they gave me an action fraud printout. I knew this would be met with consternation and affectionate dismissal as I explained what was going on amidst a sea of chavs and kids with saucepans stuck on their heads.

I knew I would be laughed at but at least I had the guts to do it on behalf of the contractor community.

If they had breathalysed me however, then that would have indeed produced the 'mirth' that you wistfully imagine.

How do you get on with your neighbours?

Bob and Tina? Known them for years. They have key parties and have on occasion invited me in at late notice when things have gone flat.

The young couple on the other side?. Look a bit fraudulent to me.
