I did it for 6 years when I was working in the north east. First 21 months in B&B's and hotels then decided to rent a gaff which was a lot better.

As you say, keep an eye on any relationship because they do get strained.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

        This.

One downside is that an argument can take months to finish - have an argument on a Sunday, and it'll still be going the following weekend because you've not had chance to resolve it.

A mate of mine used to deliberately start an argument with his wife every Friday night, so that they could make up over the weekend and there was no resentment over the week. I'm not sure he's right in the head, though.

I couldn't even do the daily commute from N.London to Milton Keynes! Seriously, knackered me, and I finally ended up taking a spareroom in MK for the rest of the contract. But MK was such a tuliphole I declined an extension and left.

I can't imagine doing the whole mon-fri thing anywhere except central London - where all the cultural activities theatre music etc in the evenings lead to a good quality life (personally speaking).

But as someone said, if you have to do mon-fri for god's sake get a room in a real house (through spareroom, gumtree or airbnb). A hotel would lead me to suicide very quickly.

Well, got another 2 months with current client but it was looking dodgy for a moment.

With little Candy no2 on its way in 3 months, wasn't really up for the living away malarkey. (although I guess I would have got more sleep).

Seriously considered whether I could do 2 hrs each way on the train to London each day. Killer maybe.

I find Im knackered by the weekend these days anyway with a 10 hr day door-to-door. 12-13 hours a day might be too much.

Not as young as I used to be!

Commute from Birmingham to London right now. I leave at 6 am (up at 5) and am back by 7.15 pm (or 8.30 pm if I miss the earlier train). And the missus wonders why I feel the need to stay down one or 2 nights a week!

Bit of a killer that. Of course, I guess you can kip on the train a bit....

Hmmm. Yeh - I reckon one nights stay would be invaluable. Leave work go to hotel, eat food, then long kip.

Yeah, can't do the whole sleeping on the train thing so end up watching on the ipad or music/reading. Even breaking up the week with one night staying away makes a big diff
