I was called by an agent and asked if he could submit me for a particular contract after a brief chat. Yes of course I told him. Two days later I asked if he did submit me. A week later I asked again, but he did not answer any of my emails. I called - no response. I keep looking and applying for other gigs anyway...

    I am not surprised...

My mind has gone blank. I wonder if it was always that way.

Thank you guys, I am really touched with the response and advice I have got. Could not get back early because did not get email notification of new post.
      Here is an update:
I spoke to recruiter yesterday and was straight with him, asked if there is nothing let me know, as my eyebrows starting to raise and i can't wait for something which in reality do not exist as I am not even sure you have got the job offer or not. He said yes I understand where you coming from, than he told me to wait and he will get back to me shortly. After 30is mins I received a call from the manager who interviewed me from the organization, he apologised for the delay and tell somewhat same thing which recruiter was saying about delay in paper work by HR. He also assured that as soon HR have sorted the contract he will personally give me a ring to confirm.

After that recruiter called and said that's maximum he could do to get me assured that there is nothing fishy going around.

It seems recruiter is not really as dodgy as most out there. But the way things were moving did starting to panic me to be honest.

      best wishes

Saad. Looks like its going to work out for you luckily...

Still don't think the agent knew this at the time a few weeks and was making sure you suddenly didnt become unavailable and taking a gamble. Like someone said they're not the ones to lose out though!
