I had an interview like that recently. Attended interview, feedback was good, waited for offer, agent called to say they've halted recruitment.

Two days later I'm browsing linkedin, and I see one of those 'suggested' Linkedin job adverts from the same clientco, same role, but perm.

I think I've had about 5 instances where this has happened in the last month.

I seem to be getting a sudden flurry of phone calls and emails in the last few days so perhaps things are picking up. Having said that I've done ok this year: I'm on my third Java contract of the year with only 13 days not working due to holidays during/between contracts.

All three were extended: The first by three months after which they switched development to C#, the next was a two month contract extended by two weeks and the current one is being extended to the end of the year with a possible further 3 month extension next year

My current client has frozen all permie recruitment. Will only take on contractors at present. Strange, but true. Guess they don't want to be lumbered with the idle buggers long-term...

Well, they can always make those buggers redundant.

I've just had it renewed so I'm set until next May now.

Heading back to Sydney is still on my list of back up plans if things do go totally tulipe but it doesn't seem that bad yet.
Brisbane?? Tons of contracts here in Sydney. And *yawn* another day of sun and high twenties. Guess I'll be popping home for a swim at lunchtime again...
