When umbrella companies try to complicate things and say they can do this and they can do that, it’s because they are spending too much time trying to find ways around things, rather than just concentrating on paying accurately, swiftly and being financially secure. £25 is not a lot of money, it means we are good value, not cheap or losing money, just invested in all the right places first off, the most important thing for us was to be set up correctly. This stops things going wrong down the line when you get bigger. The companies who charge 6% - 10% are the ones you should watch out for, what are they actually doing extra for an awful lot more money?
    Tim, you’re assuming we want to make lots of money quickly; we want to profitable yes and make money, yes, but in a constructive way. Not get a lot of people on board not being able to meet their expectations, and making a quick buck and closing down. We want to grow within our means, which was one the reasons for coming here. We do need a lot investment, yes, but not necessarily money, more time and effort.

    Boredsensless,

    We do have a few companies offering the same type of thing, but looking at this website and blagger.com they don’t all seem to be doing a great job, so I would argue its not just price, but the service plays a big part. After all you want to paid regularly and accurately, and work with a financially secure company.
    Our management team work hard to ensure that our product is competitive and the service that we provide is the best around. We leave nothing to chance when it comes to paying people and invest in state of the art software to ensure that everyone gets paid accurately and on time – infact we are so confident that should a payment fail due to a PayFlex error we will make a same day payment and refund part of the administration fee back. Our customer service, we feel sets us apart from the competition, we regularly contact our contractors and agencies to make sure all is ok, and work as hard as possible to make sure you get paid every week.

    Oh, some of the adminstrative costs for your error, mighty gracious of you.
    And if you don't pay the contractor until you receive payment, what is your function? I can think of no other reason to use an agent than for factoring.
    Why not?

      This thread seems more like an advertisement than a concerned company looking to better its service.

      Someone should close it.

        We have never had the need to even test our money back offer out, and due to us using CHAPS, we are able to work to very tight deadlines. We will bend over backwards to make sure all of our contractors get paid on time. It's when companies pay before receiving funds when major problems occur, so that's why we provide a credit control facility for all our contractors. We provide you with all the relevant insurances, there are no start up costs, no accountant to pay etc.

        Back to the relevant subject anyway, as I don't want to just talk about how great PayFlex are, is anything else, not mentioned previously, that we as a company could do more to cater for contractor's needs?

            Are we MAD

            I can apppreciate that the umbrella mentioned here started this thread to gain feedback and ideas for their business, but really, responding and continuing to respond to their questions is just encouraging more of the same from all the others out there. Is this supposed to be an advertising board.

            If these guys want to know what to do, then they should be asking their own contractors, not asking in this forum..... or dont they have any contractors.... so really who would trust yet another new umbrella company looking to cash in on the back of us contractors.

            These sorts of overt advertising by umbrellas and agencies should be ignored, even if we told them all the answers I would not believe that they would take any notice anyway.

              Nope, never heard of a Soloman Williams.

              I appoligise Bookworm if this how it has come across, it was only our intention to find out what other contractors other than our own thought, we have already asked our contractors, but obviously their views would be all positive as they are currently using us!

              I have appriciated all comments on this website from you all, everything will be taking notice of, again i say we are not out for a quick buck bookworm. One thing that has come out of this is everyone has had a bad experience with a umbrella company and everybody is very wary of umbrella companies.

              Many thanks for all your comments and your time. I wish you all a great christmas and a fantasic new year!

                  Hello Contractors,

                  I have been looking at this forum for a little while now and i am very impressed with the networking and help that goes on between contractors. We are a new umbrella/composite company, we have quickly gained quite a few contractors, and we are wondering what features and benifits you guys like to have, from companies such as ourselves. We pay weekly by chaps, we provide free insurances, we charge reasonabley, our payment schedules are flexible, we have a inland revenue approved policy, i was just wondering what more do we need? What should we be doing to make you guys better off and happier?

                  All comments would be greatly appreciated.

                  Many Thanks

                      I don't understand how you can be flexible (to the point of having it in the name of the company) if you only pay out once you have received funds.

                      Back to the original point of the post what extra can you do for us ?
                      * get us higher rates
                      * get us more contracts
                      * get agencies off our backs
                      * make sure hector never comes knocking
                      * world peace
                      * free beer
                      I suspect there is only 1 of the above list you could provide (until you go bust)

                      Thanks for advertising, but no thanks
